Short answer. Catnazse runs published three-day open-trip windows in every month of 2026 — typically four to five departures a month. 2027 dates are released on request rather than published. Private charters are not tied to this calendar and can be arranged on other dates subject to availability.

An honest note on the windy window

Late January to early March is the part of the year Komodo operators talk about least. Wind and swell build, some boats stay alongside, and the chance that your itinerary is re-routed rises materially. That does not make it unbookable — the islands are open, the dragons are there, and prices are the same — but it does mean two things. First, a longer itinerary absorbs a lost day better than a two-day one. Second, get the operator’s weather and postponement policy in writing before you pay, not after.

Peak dates that go first

School holidays in Australia and Europe, the whole of July and August, and the Christmas-to-New-Year window. Within any departure, the two Santalum balcony suites sell before the rest — they are the only cabins on board with a balcony and a king bed. If those specific cabins matter to you, treat the booking as date-critical.

National park access and quotas

Komodo Island, Rinca at Loh Buaya, Padar and Pink Beach were all reported open through 2025 and 2026, with no full closure in force. A daily visitor cap of around 1,000 people with advance permits was reported as trialled in January 2026 and applied more strictly from April. Because this is administered by the park rather than by any operator, the practical step is to book early for peak dates and let the desk handle permits.

Park entry, ranger and activity fees are charged on top of the cruise price. The published range across 2025 and 2026 is roughly IDR 150,000 to IDR 350,000 per person per day with higher weekend and holiday tiers, and it has changed more than once. Confirm your figure in writing before you pay.

Holding a date

Dates are held on deposit, on terms confirmed in writing with your quotation. Should I avoid the wet season entirely?

Not necessarily. Plankton-rich water from December to February raises manta activity at Karang Makassar even though it lowers visibility. The bigger consideration is wind rather than rain, which is why late January to early March is the window to treat with caution.

What happens if weather forces a change?

The captain re-routes to sheltered anchorages, and in serious conditions a departure can be postponed. Ask the booking desk to put their weather policy in writing with your quotation — that is the clause you will care about if it happens.

How far ahead should I book?

For July, August and the Christmas and New Year window, as far ahead as you can, particularly if you want one of the two balcony suites. For May, June, September and October there is usually more room, but a private charter on a specific date still needs lead time.
