Komodo Open Trip — Shared-Cabin Prices on Catnazse Liveaboard

Open trip is how most independent travellers get onto a phinisi in Labuan Bajo. You buy a cabin on a fixed departure, the boat sails when it sails, and you share the dining room and sun deck with whoever else booked. On Catnazse the compromise is smaller than usual, because there are no dormitory berths and no shared bathrooms.

How an open trip works on this boat

Departures follow the published three-day windows: pick-up from your Labuan Bajo hotel or the airport at 09:00 on day one, back alongside around midday on day three. The route is the standard one — Kelor, Manjarite and Kalong; Padar at dawn, Pink Beach, the ranger-guided dragon trek on Komodo Island, Manta Point and Taka Makassar; then Siaba and Sebayur on the final morning. What happens on those three days is set out hour by hour.

Meals are cooked on board and served in the air-conditioned dining room or on deck. Snorkelling gear and life vests come with the booking. So does the photo and video documentation — drone, GoPro and mirrorless, with the raw files handed over, which on a shared departure means you are not competing with anyone for the footage.

Solo travellers

Solo pricing is the honest weak spot of most liveaboards, where a single traveller pays a full double. Catnazse handles it through the four-berth Grandis cabins, where the published sharing rates are USD 470 and USD 450 per person. You still get an en-suite bathroom and air conditioning; what you share is the cabin. If you would rather not share at all, the Cafasa cabins at USD 490 per person are the cheapest private double, and the desk can quote single occupancy of a double on request.

2026 departure windows

Open-trip windows run in all twelve months. The month-by-month list is on 2026 sailing dates. Practically: May to early October is the calm-sea window, with June, July and September the most dependable; December to February brings plankton that lifts manta activity at Karang Makassar while cutting visibility; late January to early March is the windiest stretch, when route changes are more likely.

Park fees are additional to the per-person price. Reported rates over 2025 and 2026 sit somewhere between IDR 150,000 and IDR 350,000 per person per day depending on day of week and season, and the structure keeps moving. Ask for it in writing for your exact dates instead of relying on a figure quoted elsewhere.
