Komodo Liveaboard 4D3N — Extended Itinerary, Rangko Cave & 2026/2027 Prices

Short answer. The 4D3N keeps the whole classic Komodo route and adds a fourth day at Rangko Cave, Seraya Island and Sabolo or Bidadari. Private charter is USD 8,900 in 2026 for one to twelve guests (USD 9,500 for thirteen to eighteen), rising to USD 9,900 and USD 11,000 in 2027. Park fees are separate.

Most people who regret their Komodo trip regret its length, not its price. The three-day itinerary works, but it lands you at Padar at dawn and back in Labuan Bajo before you have properly stopped checking your phone. The fourth day is the one that changes the character of the trip, because it is the only day with no fixed ranger appointment and no crowd to beat.

Best months for a four-day plan

The dry season runs roughly April to December, and the calm-sea window that matters for a longer itinerary is May to early October. June, July and September are the strongest. December through February brings plankton blooms that raise manta activity at Karang Makassar while lowering visibility — a fair trade if you care more about encounters than photographs. Late January to early March is the windiest stretch of the year, when some vessels stay in port and route changes become likely; a four-day itinerary has more to lose in that window than a two-day one. Check available departure dates before booking flights.

Included and excluded

What the price covers

  • Accommodation on board for the whole trip
  • All meals during the trip
  • Mineral water, coffee and tea
  • Premium photo and video documentation with drone, GoPro and mirrorless cameras (raw footage)
  • Guide
  • Snorkelling gear
  • Life vest
  • Pick-up and drop-off between your Labuan Bajo hotel or the airport and the meeting point, within the mainland area near the harbour

What it does not cover

  • Flight tickets
  • Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks beyond water, coffee and tea
  • Personal snacks
  • Crew gratuities
  • Komodo National Park fees, subject to the regulation in force when you travel
  • Komodo National Park drone permit, estimated at IDR 2,100,000, not mandatory, and requested at least seven days ahead

Park fees sit outside the quoted charter rate. Because the tariff has been restated several times since 2025 — reported ranges run from about IDR 150,000 to IDR 350,000 per person per day, weekends and holidays higher — the only sensible approach is to request a written fee sheet for your specific departure and route rather than budgeting from a number you read on a blog.

If your dates fall outside what Catnazse has open, our operator’s wider Komodo fleet covers the same routing on other vessels. For anything past four nights, see longer custom voyages.

Frequently asked questions

What does the fourth day actually add?
Rangko Cave, Seraya Island and either Sabolo or Bidadari. Rangko is a limestone cavern west of Labuan Bajo with a saltwater pool at the bottom, reached by a short tender ride and a scramble down; Seraya and the two smaller islands are quiet reef and beach stops close enough to town that day four ends comfortably.
How much more does 4D3N cost than 3D2N?
On a private charter in 2026 the step is USD 1,800, from USD 7,100 to USD 8,900 for one to twelve guests. In 2027 the same step is USD 2,600, from USD 7,300 to USD 9,900. Per night, the longer trip is slightly cheaper.
Is 4D3N available as an open trip?
The published open-trip calendar is built around three-day windows. Four-day departures are normally arranged as a private charter or as an extension by request, so ask the booking desk before you plan flights around it.
What is the best month for the longer route?
June, July and September, in that order, because the sea is at its calmest and the extra day is spent snorkelling rather than sheltering. April, May, August, October and November are all workable. Late January to early March is the least suitable window for a four-day plan.
Do we repeat any sites from the three-day route?
No. Days one to three follow the same sequence as the 3D2N and day four adds new anchorages on the way back toward Labuan Bajo, so nothing is duplicated.
Can we swap a stop for something else?
Within limits. Ranger-led activities inside the park run to a fixed pattern and some anchorages depend on wind and swell, but the order of stops, the timing of meals and the amount of time at any one reef are all negotiable on a private charter. Raise it before departure, not on the morning.
How many guests does the price cover?
The one-to-twelve tier covers any group up to twelve. Thirteen to eighteen guests moves you to the higher tier. Eighteen is the charter maximum for the vessel.
